Lactic acid
Skim through
What it does: exfoliant, moisturizer/humectant, buffering, conditioning
The science
As an AHA, lactic acid can gently lift away dead skin cells revealing fresher, smoother, nicer skin underneath, and dissolving product buildup. Because it is a larger molecule, it has difficulty penetrating the skin, meaning that lactic acid is gentler compared to other AHAs.
Benefits for your hair
Promotes hair growth
Lactic acid improves hair health and allows the roots to grow. It doesn’t weigh down the hair.
Promotes moisturization
It improves the scalp’s natural moisture, which in turn hydrates the hair, making it feel less dry and more bouncy.
TLDR
Lactic acid is an amazing exfoliator which is great at promoting hair growth and improving hydration.
